Libra Room
Returning to the drive after a long hiatus and renovation (a year and a half) can tough on business owners. It just might have well been the other way around too, as many in the neighborhood have been missing, and wondering when The Libra Room was to reopen. You see, the iconic live Jazz room has been a long standing favorite to many fans of The Drive. It is likely that any late night commercial drivers’ has a great, if not numerous memories over the years. Their clientele is diverse, young and old, casual to chic.

The renewed Libra Room is warm and inviting. Once inside you can feel this eclectic mood with the old wood furnishings and art nouveaux prints and canvases. The bar is nestled at the back of the lounge, as is the kitchen. The food menu is a varied selection of comfort fare that is expected, but it is completed in a way that kindly serves the vegetarian, meat, and seafood patrons. We even had to order another Middle Eastern fried chicken, It was that good!

What draws many to the Libra Room of course is the music. Rightfully, it’s Jazz you will hear. To enjoy it seven days a week is also a huge plus! They are one of the rare venues, and the only one in all of Vancouver to host Jazz each and every night of the week.
Curated by long time resident piano man and legendary talent Bruno Hubert, they have also hosted greats such as John Korsrud, Wes Mackey, and so many others. Coupled with the local music scene, the Libra Room has also played host to major musical events such as the New Music West festival, The Juno Festival and the Vancouver Jazz Festival. Two bands perform nightly, taking the stage at 6:30 pm and 9 pm respectively. So good to once again have a venue serve great Jazz music, food, and cocktails at one of Commercial Drive's established "live venues."

A big toast and congratulations to The Libra Room once again for re-opening its newly renovated house, and we look forward to another decade of great memories and music!
The Libra Room is open seven days a week. at 1608 Commercial Drive. They are open Sunday to Thursday 5pm to 1am, Friday and Saturday 5pm to 2am.
