Neighbourhood Safety
Creating a safe business district requires community participation. If you witness issues related to public safety, crime, or bylaw violations, it is important to report them to the appropriate authorities.
HOW TO REPORT SAFETY CONCERNS
STEP 1
Emergency Situations
- Call 911 for all emergencies.
VPD Non-Emergency Issues (handled by the VPD) for concerns such as:

Report issues through the VanConnect
- Use the VanConnect App (visit vancouver.ca/van311) or call #311
- Select Submit New Service Request > Street and Sidewalks
- Provide location details and a description
- Save the reference number
The Van Connect App makes it easy to report issues to Vancouver City Hall, 24/7. Just submit a brief description and photo, and the app automatically sends the report to the right department using your location. You’ll be notified as soon as it’s resolved. Download VanConnect on your phone or desktop to get started.
The City and VPD allocate resources based on call volume from multiple sources. To ensure proactive support in our community, we all need to report issues regularly and consistently.
STEP 2
After reporting to the VPD or City, please fill out the Safety Incident Form with your reference number, photos, details, and contact info. This helps the CDBS Safety Team track and address ongoing issues.
